Bellwether Constituencies

There’s a lot of campaigning in Bristol North-West today, which as far back as 1959, has elected the candidate of the winning party each election. Unfortunately in 1955, it voted Labour, and ruined its record.

It made me start thinking about the bellwether constituencies in the U.K. and I found Gravesend/Gravesham has correctly elected either the party that won, or had the largest share of the vote, since the First World War.

The Politicshome tracker, admittedly a few days out of date, has both Bristol North and Gravesham, as projected Conservative seats. Let’s see how their record continue to fare.
