Monday Morning Music – Weed & Foxes in Fiction
When compiling my favourite tracks of 2010, I typed “Katy Perry” into my iTunes search field. Alongside the album from the lady herself, there was also a cover which I had not heard. Double clicking Weed & Foxes in Fiction’s cover of Teenage Dream had the potential to be very dangerous: I loved the original, and the first few seconds sounded comparatively lo-fi. This dreamy cover manages to maintain the energy of the original, it shares the catchiness, but also adds a further euphoria as well.
The track originates from a Dead as Digital compilation tape. And yes, I do mean tape. With a limited run of about 100 copies, it’s a good job they put it online for all to see as well. Check out their site and the entire tape rip here.
